Basement Flooring

Basement Flooring Installation in Maryland

A finished basement is extra living space: a home gym, playroom, office or guest suite. The right floor makes it feel like part of the house, not an afterthought.

We install luxury vinyl plank (LVP), which we have installed since it first came to market, and we can also advise on engineered wood options where conditions allow.

What Works Best Below Grade

Basements deal with moisture, temperature swings and concrete subfloors. We choose materials to match.

  • LVP: water-resistant, stable and comfortable underfoot, our most common basement choice
  • Engineered wood: a real-wood look in dry, well-controlled basements
  • Solid hardwood is generally not recommended below grade

Our Basement Process

  • Subfloor and moisture assessment before we order materials
  • Leveling and prep so planks lie flat and seams stay tight
  • Clean fits around stairs, doors, vents and walkouts
  • Matching trim and transitions to finish the room
  • Final walkthrough with you

Real Example: Germantown, MD

In Germantown we installed light oak-look LVP in a basement home gym while refinishing the red oak on the main level. See the full project below.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best flooring for a basement?

For most Maryland basements, luxury vinyl plank is the best balance of water resistance, comfort and looks. Engineered wood can work in dry basements.

Can you put hardwood in a basement?

Solid hardwood is generally not recommended below grade because of moisture. Engineered wood or LVP are better choices, and we will recommend what fits your space.

How long does a basement floor take?

Most basements take a few days depending on size and prep. We give you a timeline with your estimate.

Do you remove the old flooring?

Yes. Removal, prep and installation can be quoted together.
